How To Make Money Designing Logos, Beginners, Free

The first thing I want to point out is that you do not need an art degree, superior drawing skills, graphic design skills or be inherently artistic for this gig. So stop thinking, “I cannot design anything to save my life!” You can do this!

You can make some passive income with 48hourslogo. If your design is a winner, you will get 99$. It is an excellent site for people who want to make money but are not graphic designers by profession. If your design is chosen by the editor you can make almost two hundred dollars for the logo you create and your design will be a featured design.

Moreover, if you are a graphic designer or new to the world of graphic design, then you can hone your skills, adding design after design to a contest and make some extra cash every day.

This website has affiliate links that I earn a commission from without any extra cost to you. This means that if you click on a link and purchase something, I might make a little money. You will not be charged extra, and some of the affiliate links I use have discounts so stay tuned!

How does 48HoursLogo work

In all honesty it works like a competition. You have to design a logo at and then upload it with six or seven other designs. Whoever made the design request will choose the design they like most and the designer of that logo will be paid. You will be paid only if your design is chosen.

Unlike Fiverr, which is like a pool of designers who are hired and paid independently, 48hourslogo has a different payment method. Fiverr does have an irksome starting rate of 5$ dollars, and honestly, there is too much competition there for logo design. Except for two specific designs forms. There is only one woman offering designs for campaign posters on Fiverr. Furthermore, there are no designers for print-on-demand sneakers. So if you want to try Fiverr then try these two niches which, are not saturated till doomsday like all the others.

What is the payment method for 48HoursLogo

There is only one payment method for 48hourslogo, and it is PayPal. If you cannot access a PayPal account, then sign up to another design site that accepts your payment method.

How to sign up for free

Well, when you sign up, you will need to submit your email address, a nickname and your PayPal email. Then you will have to upload a logo. It is a requirement because the site wants to know if you can make a design at all.

You will be given the dimensions of 800-600 pixels, and you will need to upload a vector or EPS file. I literally stared at my computer screen and said, “what in the world is this vector smecter stuff”. Don’t worry it is just a different file formating that you can easily convert with convertio.io for the incredible amount of free.

As an example below is a screenshot of the requirements and preferences of the buyer; this is for your test logo. After your logo has been reviewed, you will be emailed with an acceptance letter, or your application will be declined.

How much availability is there for competing everyday

Lot’s! I took a screenshot of the contests available for you to see the opportunity yourself. If you are worrying that you may not find a contest to join then rest assured there are so many contests that they cannot be completed every day. It is because this is a fantastic site for someone who wants a logo for their company. All they have to do is pen out the requirements and preferences. After the contest is complete, they choose the design that they like most, and they leave. In essence, this site is better for the buyer rather than the seller.

Nonetheless, I have made an account with them and will update this post or write another post with my experiences. That way, you can get a first-hand insight into this website.

How to design for 48HoursLogo, free

The best and most easy to use software is Canva. You really do not need to be any sort of artist for this application.

It is entirely free, and there is a pro version for 9.95$ per month billed annually, 12.95$ for just one month. I have not until today purchased the pro version, and I do not recommend the paid option. You can make some awesome designs with all the elements and gradients available on Canva for free.

How is 48HoursLogo different from Fiverr

The one big difference is that you are paid only if your design is chosen whereas on Fiverr you are paid whenever you are hired. The other difference is in your payment amounts. Fiverr has a starting cost of 5$ per task, which is quite low, but the payments do increase when you get lots of good reviews, and you can upsell yourself and ask for more money for each assignment.

Newbies can ask for 5$ per logo but weathered Fiverr freelancers make a whopping 1000$ per logo. These websites are made for freelancers, so you have to build your image.

Why graphic designers would not be content with 48HoursLogo

The system with which 48hourslogo works will not suit designers for the following reasons:

  • they could be fully trained individuals putting their heart and soul into a design only to find that someone else won the contest
  • they could feel that the payment is too little know some people put their heart and soul into all their work even if they are not designers themselves, but a skilled artist may think they could do better with their training

An average joe who wants to make some extra cash and put together some designs with Canva would probably be satisfied with 99$.
Still, this is an excellent site for making some money every month, instead of halfheartedly watching some television series why not make a design and upload it to 48hourslogo for some cash.

If you have the time to spare just make an account and join the competition. For some people digital design is a hobby so why not earn some income too.

My final thoughts

I would say that this website is best suited for artistic people. Still, after using Canva on almost a daily basis while not having an affinity for art, I conclude that anyone can do it with software like Canva. Honestly, I am probably giving Canva too much credit because the human brain can do amazing things.

I am at the time of writing this post thirty years of age and it is so much fun to design a logo, so yes anyone can do this for an extra hundred dollars every now and then. Still, I do encourage youngsters to get creative with 48HoursLogo. I wish I could have had access to a sit like this when I was a teen.
