How To Make Money Online And With A Website
Making money online is easy if you know all the technical stuff. For people floundering around for the first time online in hopes of making real money you could spend more than a year on the internet of things without any monetisation.
How to monetize your website may be your biggest problem. I am here to tell you it is not as difficult as you may think. Why? You see, there are many ways you can monetize your site. These are my top 10 recommendations for introverts like myself if you want to start your own business and make a website to show your skills then this just the blog for you.
If you are a website owner, then a thing to remember is that it will take you over a year before you get organic traffic from google. So if you have written ten posts or sixty posts, Google will take a year to analyse your site for credibility. Do not worry; you do not need to have an impressive degree to dominate a business online. All you need is to be patient and consistent. Consistency is the best practice!
This website has affiliate links that I earn a commission from without any extra to cost you. This means that if you click on a link and purchase something, I might make a little money. You will not be charged extra, and some of the affiliate links I use have discounts so stay tuned!
1 Blogging
Blogging is not only a permanent money maker but for anyone with excellent writing skills, a passion for writing and knowledge in any particular field; this is an avenue that should not be ignored when starting a website.
Although blogging is work-intensive when you first start, it is worth it. Firstly you will have to find a niche that you are knowledgeable about and are happy to write in detail how to get the job done. Next, write a blog at least once a week if you write a blog once a week you are now part of the 51% on the internet.
Write like you are writing to your best friend. People want information that is effective, informative and preferably not tediously boring. Now if you do a google search, the ideal length of a blog should be 2,100-2,400. I recommend a 2000 word blog post is perfect, and if it is a little more no worries.
2 Affiliate Marketing
Promoting products for a commission is a lucrative and easy money-making scheme. There are two different ways you can use affiliate links with your website. You can build a website that is like landing on an online store page with images of the products that you are promoting. You have a picture and the link below to redirect your viewers to purchase whatever product it is.
It is an effective and attractive marketing technique. You can use social media to get people to visit your website from Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook; if you have a following this can really up the game for you, so do it.
The second route is to build a website, write blogs and add your affiliate links in your posts. Of course, you must have a niche related product that you are promoting. Do not encourage diet supplements if you write about gardening.
3 Proofreading
Do you see all the comma splices taking place all over the internet? Maybe you are good at spotting all the grammatical issues in everything you read if so this is your dream job. Many people have this misconception that proofreading entails editing to the documents or text in any form; this is not the case. Your only job is to spot the grammatical errors, whatever they may be, mark them and send them back to your client.
Make a LinkedIn account with an excellent photograph of yourself. You have to market yourself for this one, but people make serious dough with it so take the dive if correcting errors in the text are your gift. There are online courses that you can choose to further your knowledge in the art of proofreading. The cost starts at 300$ and up. The course everybody raves about online is by Cathrine Pyle. I only recommend her here because she has a free webinar that has vital information for any aspiring proofreader. Proofreaders can make 50,000$ and more annually. Furthermore, if you are a school teacher for the English language or you have what it takes to be a proofreader than skip the course and put up your degrees instead.
4 Transcription
There are multiple free courses to try for transcription. The best way to get in the business is to put yourself out there and not work through sites like Fiverr etcetera. The reason is simple; you make your terms; you are your boss. The best part you set your own rate. Youtubers, podcasts interviews and many other areas require transcription to turn audio into text. You should have excellent typing skills, a firm grasp on the English language and mindfulness for time.
Again you should make a LinkedIn account to put your self on the market and offer your work. To start, provide a free audio hour to newcomers and rope in your customers. With time and experience, you can increase your pay rate, and if you are punctual, your customers will keep coming back. The going rate for every audio hour transcribed is anywhere from 15-20$ and higher. It all depends on how accurately you can transcribe, your typing speed and punctuality. It takes about four hours to transcribe one audio hour, so it is a time-consuming endeavour.
If you are interested then try out this free mini-course with a certificate by Janet Shaughnessy, at Transcribe Anywhere.
5 Writing
You can write for anyone just about anything for a cost. With the internet exploding nowadays many people need you to write their blog posts for them or articles, stories and the list goes on. Sell yourself according to your writing expertise. Freelance writing can and will make you money. You may not have the money to have all your ideas written down for you, but other people do so try it if writing is your passion. Blog post writers are in demand and well paid.
Honestly, you are doing a lot of work creating new content; it demands time, concentration and creativity. You can earn handsomely from this avenue. Your income can be anywhere from 10$ to a 100$ per hour. It all depends on how well you write and how much experience you have. If you are a blogger already, then, you have the experience of writing 2000 words per week under your belt. Writing will significantly improve your creativity and writing skills. Promote yourself using your social media accounts and LinkedIn.
6 Google Ad Sense
Like all things, Google, ad sense if entirely free. Google has an algorithm that will put up Ads related to what your content is, and the best part is that they pay you for it. You can easily subscribe to AdSense; the sign up is free and straightforward. Of course, the amount of money you make depends on how many viewers you get, but it is a passive income that you should not overlook. Not only will AdSense pay you it also helps you get found on google search.
Just make sure that your site is Google friendly. AdSense has some requirements for an essential website. If for some reason you are refused, you can still reapply after a given time. After AdSense by Google accepts your request, they will send you a code, which you have to add to your site. It is a hassle-free process, and it will pay you.
After your first year on a website if you have got over 25,000 page views, firstly congratulations and secondly switch to a better advertisement company. Mediavine has an average 25,000-page view a month requirement for the application. Yes, they pay more so it is worth your valuable time. Also, they do keep in mind your page speed so they will not slow you down, but instead work with your website for an optimal result.
7 Online Store Front With Print On Demand
If you have a flair for creativity and entrepreneurship, then print on demand is your thing. There are many aspects of this trade that you should investigate. Firstly what is print on demand? Well, websites like Teespring and Redbubble let you design products that they have like t-shirts, leggings and mugs.
Start with Teespring or Redbubble these two online print on demand websites allow you to choose the colour and design of your Tshirt, mug, cloth tot bag, leggings and other items as well. You do not need sophisticated software or the pro skills of a graphic designer to excel in this particular field.
The only real work is to choose your preferred product, a niche that is trending and start making great designs. Once you have your print on demand items designed, you can sell them directly from your website. For beginners, I suggest Canva as a designing tool. Also, it is entirely free of any cost to you. Teespring and Redbubble handle the price and shipping, you will only get the profit so good luck!
If you are afraid of this business idea because art is not your forte, then please stop. Nowadays, with free tools like Canva, anyone can make great designs without graphic design skills or a degree in art. Furthermore, if you want only ready-made designs like a painting from the eighteenth century then make a niche design store for mugs, leggings, or whatever you want to use for print-on-demand.
Now look for images on the public domain. You can reuse the image of the Monalisa without copyright infringement because it is a legal act. It actually looks really cool.
8 Pinterest
It may yet be the most underrated social media service for making money out there. You can and should create Pins that have a link to your website. Whether it is a promotion of a product you are promoting or a blog post, you can get traffic from all your Pinterest followers on all your posts. Pinterest is a platform for ideas, and I too look for inspiration for countless ideas on my account. Albeit for this, you would have to have something on your website, so it is not an exact idea for making money on your website. Still, it is too good to ignore.
Additionally, for some select countries Pinterest does have advertisements that you can activate, so if you are already using the app activate the adds, man!
9 Write And Sell An Ebook
Now before you roll your eyes at this one ask your self this. Do you share information with your friends and family on any topic? It could be a few great recipes, gardening tips, parenting advice, and the list is endless. Almost every person has a gift to do well at something and the knowledge of how to do it right. Why not write it in a book and sell it for some income.
An Ebook could have illustrations and not a lot of text and be extraordinarily informative and helpful. Some people just compile all their blogs in a cohesive and orderly fashion to make an ebook. It could be a passive income do not lose faith in yourself just because the one you wrote or will write is not doing well. Sometimes it takes a little time, but one day you will make money. You can do it!
A thing to remember is that all prominent bloggers and webmasters usually have a course that they sell or put up for free. They do this for more than just making money. You see all these bloggers are trying to please Google (like me 😉 ) making a course or an ebook makes them seem more legitimate online. It is excellent for SEO, and you can easily make an ebook via CreateSpace by Amazon.
I am not saying just mush together some rubbish to make a few quick bucks! Not advisable at all! Do one of two things either write a book about any subject that someone else can benefit from. It is about the customer after all because even a fictional story has to have other readers who want to read the story. You can write an ebook but it should contain something of value.
For example, I have much knowledge about raising kittens at home without the assistance of a vet. If I mashed together a mish-mash of my thoughts in an Ebook that would not be beneficial for anyone. Random information is no information, but if you divide the information into ten parts with a beginning a middle and a conclusion, someone will learn something of value.
It may seem like an epic amount of work if you are new to the website world, but when you have spent a year steadily blogging, you will find writing an ebook to be child’s play. Furthermore, it is a free venture, so what do you stand to lose?
10 Do Product Reviews
On your website, you can dedicate a page for product reviews that correlate to what your niche is. The pay can get you up to 300$ to 500$ per review. The review you write could be about a book, an item or a digital product. You can continue to write blog posts and just have one page on your site for reviews you have done. Try sites like linkfromblog.com the sign up is free and you earn money writing a review on your website.
11 Add A Hire Me Page To Your Website
It is time for some honesty my dear readers. All this phoney baloney of “how to make money blogging in your first month” is a lie. Yep, when you are new with a website even if you write killer content and thirty pages a month you will not get page views. Not enough for anything. So if you add a hire me page to your website you can make some money passively until your site becomes better known online.
Whether you are a blogger or you are doing some other online work, you can get paid to write for other people simply. I do realize this should be in my separate paragraph about writing but if you just want to write about gardening or something else your hire me page will put you directly on the market for work until your site has picked up the pace.
Furthermore, feel free to comment and ask questions. I am happy to help you, and you can help me by being critical of anything I write. I am just an average joe like you trying to make a living on the World Wide Web. 😉 Learn with me.
Final thoughts
To conclude, there are numerous possibilities on the internet of things, so do not stop looking for your cash flow avenue. If you have not been successful yet just keep looking. Keep your head up and persevere. My advice to everyone looking for a cash flow online is do everything free.
Do not sign up to any site that requires money. There are too many scammers on the web waiting for any desperado to spend money unwittingly. If you are making a website, do it yourself. Spend only on a domain name and hosting and make sure it all comes to under 100$. My motto is if you cannot make money with little to no cash, then do not waste your money on phoney scams.
