How To Make Money With Face Masks, Easy

You are stuck at home with no idea when things are back to normal, but in the meantime, you can make some money online without having to make the product. Print-on-demand is just a few clicks away, and honestly starting an online business was never so easy.

With Redbubble you can design your very own face masks at the astounding cost of free. Everyone wants this simple thing that can generate some money every month.

Before you run for the hills at the idea of designing a product because you think to yourself:

  • I cannot design anything because I don’t have the skills
  • where will I get the money to start my online store
  • I might be a teenager so I cannot start this business legally

My dear readers you do not need to be older than 16 and with some websites 13. You can start this online business free, completely free. Lastly, you do not need any design skill whatsoever!

This website has affiliate links that I earn a commission from without any extra cost to you. This means that if you click on a link and purchase something, I might make a little money. You will not be charged extra, and some of the affiliate links I use have discounts so stay tuned!

Setup your online store for free

Make an account with Redbubble. It is free. You can set up a store with them and start uploading your designs instantly. Redbubble will manage the cost of all the items without any cost to you. They are a market place, just like Amazon and eBay. Millions of people search these market places for all number of items. The site does do all the marketing for you as well as handling your product completely.

Back in the day, any beginner entrepreneur would purchase a hundred or more items, at a wholesale cost, and then sell them at a profit. Today you can start the same business in a much more effective manner. Print-on-demand is the name of the game.

Redbubble will:

  • make your product for free
  • market your product for free
  • ship your product for free

The way you will make money is in the profit of each product. From each item that you sell you will earn the profit. Redbubble will take out the cost of the product, printing the design and the shipping cost.

If you are wondering how they make their money, then they are using you to design products, and it is a huge business online. There are of course other print-on-demand websites which are Teespring, Merch by Amazon and Shopify. The reason I have not listed these websites is for different reasons.

Teespring does not have too many products to choose from. Also, they do not have face masks as a product.

Merch by Amazon is so fussy about uploading designs that I never made an account with them. They have a clause that only lets you upload ten designs at a time, and they have a more picky way in which they allow new members for merch by amazon. Additionally, they also do not have face masks as a merch product.

Cafepress is another print on demand store that you can make an account with. Unlike Amazon, it is too easy to create an account with them, but they also do not make face masks.

Lastly, Shopify is also a print on demand store, but they charge you for the shipping and making of each product. After the sale, they will give you the profit. This is not ideal for many people. Shopify is more like Etsy, but they make your products for you.

How to design your face masks for free without any design skills

In one single word that is Canva, it is free software that you can use online, and you can make almost any design. They now have a t-shirt design template with the preset dimensions that is adequate for Redbubble.

Hint, hint maybe you should start a designing t-shirts as well. You can make face masks and matching t-shirts, or mix things up a little.

On Canva you can make all number of designs for free. The only downside to Canva is that they do have a premium package and, they carefully put the transparent background option for only the pro version. I have found several ways in which you can work around this obstacle.

Firstly if you are wondering what on earth I am talking about then take a look:

I hope you see what all the transparency issues are. You see this is extremely easy to overcome with free online software which are easy to use.

The following are two completely free tools you can use to generate a transparent backgrounds. There are two major problems with both of these tools.

#1 Lunapic is easy to use, free but for some convoluted reason when you make your 1200-1400 pixel image transparent the software resizes your image to something smaller. Resize your image, for free, at; Image Resize, and this tool is as easy to use as Lunapic.com.

#2 Online Png Tool is not easy to use, and this software looks complicated! Still, it is a learning curve that you can overcome, so go for it.

#3 Placeit if you are not yet ready for all this then make an account with Placeit.com. Yes, you can create a free account and yes they, unlike Canva, have the transparent background option free. The problem is that unlike Canva, 85% of everything on the site requires the pro version.

I must add that I just randomly went to Canva and chose this design for the mask. I did not make the design myself and you can do the same.

Use pre-made designs for your face masks

If you do not want to design anything, then just go to the public domain and use images, paintings and much more for free. If you find the Monalisa, you can legally use it to design your products. Everything from the public domain is free for all, like stock photos. You can read all about it on Wikipedia. Just take a look at this image of space and imagine it printed on a face mask.

Start at 16 and older

For all the teenagers out there if you want to try out this gig as a form of cash online, then Redbubble has an age limit of sixteen years of age. Yep, I read the legal agreement, and I went ahead put up the screenshot for you:

One of my favourite YouTubers was fifteen when she started an online business of reselling used video games. I am just saying, please don’t stop believing in yourself, you young, intelligent person.

The best and effective way of marketing your face masks online

After you have made your account and designed a few face masks, then you can market yourself for the considerable cost of free. Use social media! I found Instagram too challenging to maintain on a daily bases.

Still, if you are already on Instagram with hundreds or thousands of followers, then you should convert your account to business. After this, it should be easy for you to upload your masks with a link to it in the description.

If you are on YouTube, then you can order a sample of your print-on-demand product and show your viewers your creations. I do find this a tad spammy, so you should be careful to not be overly enthusiastic in your videos.

I saved the best for last. On Pinterest, it is incredibly easy to create your Pins, add titles, descriptions and upload images. Pinterest is easy to use with a smartphone and desktop. Also, how they put up pins makes them forever advertised, unlike a photograph you may upload on Instagram, which will be buried with the murdered mom from true crime. 😉 People will not even look at old pictures on Instagram.

Another awesome tool you can use for face mask marketing

Imagine I just put up a picture online of a mask. It is so much more visually pleasing to see it on someone. This can be done in two ways.

Firstly you can order a sample of your product and take a selfie. Order two and take a selfie with your Mom, dad, sibling or best friend. Of course, if these are the types of pictures you upload, that will be wonderful. It will probably provoke a more positive response from your followers.

I have yet to use this method of taking selfies because I avoid being photographed like the bubonic plague, but I do use Smartmockups. It is online software, and now I will show you guys exactly what I am talking about.

Look at the difference between the two images below. I think Pinterest and Instagram followers will prefer mock-ups rather than a boring image of the product.

My final thoughts

Start your very own business online as soon as you can. Your monetary independence may by be just a few months away. Even if it takes you a year, what do you have to lose? The entire project is free. I have read articles written by graphic designers who all agree that you should not buy a paid software for design or mock-up until You first earn some money. Besides if you can do it all free, why spend your money for no reason at all?
