Which Social Media Platforms Are Best For Promoting Your Blog
Nowadays, everyone is on some social media platform. I have never really used social media for socialising because except for my brother, no one I know uses it. Yep, I was born in the nineties! Need I say more?
Pinterest and YouTube are the best platforms for promoting your blog. You will get immediate traffic to your site from them, so start promoting your posts there. Youtube and Pinterest will repeatedly send traffic to your site.
This website has affiliate links that I earn a commission from without any extra cost to you. This means that if you click on a link and purchase something, I might make a little money. You will not be charged extra, and some of the affiliate links I use have discounts so stay tuned!
To promote your blog Pinterest is the king
If you are using Pinterest already, then you know that many times you will see the same pin pop up in your home feed. Of course, this happens because the algorithm of Pinterest is programmed to show you pins that are related to what you are interested in. Getting a following on this social media app is stupid simple. I think it is safe to say that getting a following on Pinterest is more straightforward than all the other major social media apps.
Another great thing about Pinterest is that they have made it easy to make a business account. Unlike Instagram, Pinterest is super simple to use on your computer. Creating your pins has never been so simple. You can use Canva to design your custom pins so that your readers will immediately recognise you and click on them.
You can claim your website, and this is one of my favourite features of claiming my site. Once you have done this, you will be able to see all your analytics, which Pins were visited most, which country they came from, and which device they used to click the Pin. Now before you go off thinking this is too complicated or irrelevant, it is a huge help. The data will guide you into what are your best pins and what people are interested in.
Why I Think YouTube is simply second for promoting your blog
YouTube is fantastic in so many ways if you are a user, but if you make a channel yourself, then you will have to create content. Many people do not want to make a YouTube channel, the apparent problem of coming in front of a camera. Also, you will need at least a 1,000 followers before you can get monetised, and at least 4,000 hours of watch time in one year. Do not worry, you do not need to make 4,000 hours videos, but this applies to your viewers watch time.
So yes, it is difficult but not impossible. Like Pinterest, Youtube has an elegant way in which they keep putting up your videos. It is more ever-green rather than Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Someone said you could hide a dead body in tweets or your Instagram page. These three social apps have too much going on every single day and unless you can be a huge multi-tasker and update, update, update every day then maybe you can make a huge success.
Another issue to keep in mind is that Facebook, Instagram and Twitter will need constant communication from you. Ask yourself if it is practical for you to interact with; all of your followers asking you questions, tweeting, etc.
To be practical do not bother just keep Youtube and Pinterest in your sights.
Why you should start a YouTube channel for your blog
I am camera-shy, and I do not like the idea of even speaking on camera, so I get you! Still, anyone can make a video of how to anything for YouTube. You can, and you should.
I suggest that you make a descriptive video of whatever you want to teach, promote, or describe and do a voice-over. Even further, you can change your voice using a free application called Voice Changer.
Some people just put text into their videos, and they do not talk at all. That is not good because when I watch a how-to video on YouTube and some Youtuber has a video with text instead of a voice-over I usually leave and watch a video with a voice-over. It is easier to listen and watch. Rather than try to understand what the Youtuber is teaching you, read the text while, simultaneously watching the video.
You may think, “it takes so much trouble, I don’t even want to come on camera, and if there are so many clauses before I get monetised what is the point of it all?” Stop all that thought right now! Make the channel and add a video a week. After a year, you may have enough followers and get monetised. Ask all your friends and family to follow you as well.
Nowadays, people watch more and more YouTube videos over making a Google search. It is because it is so much easier to fully understand anything watching a video rather than reading about it in a blog. YouTube may be the future replacement for blogs on Google.
You don’t need high tech cameras for making YouTube videos for your blog
Almost everyone these days has a smartphone with a perfect camera. Many cooks on YouTube just use a tripod to suspend their phone above their kitchen counter while they cook, bake, etc.
You can go to Vanguard and buy a tripod if you use my discount coupon code that is CLORINDA15, you will receive a 15% discount on anything you buy.
Start small but think big!
If your blog is about music then…
Then you can make a YouTube channel to promote your blog with playlists. This is easy and you do not need to talk or actually be in the video so have fun!
You may play an instrument yourself and if you do I beg you to make a YouTube channel with at least the audio of your music.
Why you should choose these two platforms for your blog over the rest
They work is the first reason. YouTube and Pinterest pay you money. With YouTube they will start paying you after you have got the followers and viewing hours.
Pinterest will pay if you activate ads on the app, sadly, this feature is not yet worldwide. If you can then get activated now.
A prime example of how well Pinterest works is that when I started my “nobody knows my blog”, I got immediate traffic from them. Google doesn’t look at you till at least six months in, so try it and see for yourself.
In this way, you can earn money from your blog, YouTube, and Pinterest. I do not need to tell you that having an income possibility from three sources rather than just one is infinitely better.
Final thoughts
It is easy to lose heart and just stop trying to get your posts on some platform for marketing because it can be a tedious task. The task of writing blogs every day is tiresome enough, but marketing yourself is good for business. Firstly, you will get some traffic that will make you feel like someone somewhere is reading your work. Secondly, the fact that people are starting to read your posts is incredible!
I like designing Pins on Canva, and Pinterest is super easy to use. Some of you might find some aspect annoying, and when you work your butt off with no immediate result, it is hard to have confidence in one’s self. Still, you must persevere for a winning outcome.
Honestly, if you have a following of about five hundred on Pinterest, you will have some fantastic traffic from them. I know Because that is how I started. My Pinterest following is just growing every day. The goal for this year is to have a hundred thousand followers by 2021. I might be in over my head, but everyone on that platform seems super friendly. I had to report a spammer only once.
I hope someone somewhere found something of value in today’s post. See you guys tomorrow.
